These are things I have nightmares about hearing from my kids or grandkids. But at the rate the human race is going, we are going to eradicate tigers, elephants, lions and many other beloved animals before any grandchildren - or maybe even children - I might have will come along. This is a depressing thought. The good news is, there are many organizations trying to help endangered species, and more and more information is becoming available to educate the public and encourage everyone to take action. Therefore, the librarian in me has taken over once again, and produced this bibliography! About the content of this site: This is not an exhaustive bibliography. I visited each and every site listed here and evaluated them. I did not include sites that I felt had little or no informational value. That being said, just because your site is not listed here does not necessarily mean I didn't like it - it probably means I didn't see it. (There are MANY sites out there!) About the site descriptions: In the first version of this page, I gave lengthy descriptions of each site. However, this page has tripled in size since then, and typing "this site has really good information about xxxx" gets rather tiresome. In light of that, I will lay out the basic qualities of the sites here, and individual site descriptions will only contain aspects of the site which are unique or particularly notable. The basic qualities include: General endangered species sites contain a broad range and good amount of information about the issue as a whole, and typically information about some species in particular. All basic aspects of the issue are covered in at least some depth. Organizational sites contain information about who/what the organization is, causes they support, efforts they are involved in, etc. Subject-specific sites (as in sites focusing on one aspect of the issue, one geographic area, etc.) cover their topic with reasonable depth. Sites which do not fall into one of these categories will be described in more detail. Species-specific sites have information about the species in general, about the threats to that species, and about efforts to save the species. Typically they will include at least one picture of the animal. A next to a site name means there is a part of the site especially for kids.
